Now I'm off and running

Ok, so I really am counting this week as my first week as a blogger. Today, I added links. Since I have already blogged on my family's site I figured I better update on my own. My sisters helped me figure out how to post a picture on my profile because, clearly, I cannot maintain a blog without pictures, right?

So since August 21st, I have popped. I was huge and pregnant then and now (I still am) I have a new baby, Seth. He came in September with great fan fare and adventure. He was diagnosed with Hirschsprung's Disease which is not a horrible diagnosis as diseases go but it is serious enough to warrant weeks of the NICU and surgery. Oh, the disease means that part of his colon is under-developed -tiny and lacking nerve cells. So he's pretty much a regular pooper these days. The last couple days have been odd, as his stools have been really firm and scarce. But today we got trained on rectal dilations which will help keep his scar tissue from closing up and should help with the recent difficulty. Mark likes to say they gave us 'instruments of torture' (they sorta look like torpedoes). We have to insert them into his bottom a few times daily (fortunately just for a few weeks. I had feared it would be the rest of his life). The other sad restriction we learned of today is NO BANANAS - what'll he eat his peanut butter on each day? Poor boy. So this experience was a huge ordeal for our little family but we got tremendous support from our family and our church. I believe God taught us a lot about compassion in crisis, prayer, and God's healing power.

So now life is really, really hectic. I barely have time to check my email each day. (Even as I type Levi is making odd noises, trying to get me to release him from his bed, although he has not slept a wink). Having two boys is great. I am so proud of how cute they are and I feel so blessed to get to chase them all day and change stinky diapers ... really, I do.

Another fun thing is that we bought a car. We wanted something a little bigger and it is - but just a little. SO the fun part is that we had to sell both our old cars and we did. We had been a little worried about getting them sold but it was so easy. God is really, really good.

The picture is my family at the Pumpkin Patch last weekend. We have to take pics of tractors when we see them 'cause there's just not too many of those in our lives. It was a really fun day.
Sometime, I'm gonna do that 'Years ago' thing. yeah, sometime.
